Oftentimes after pregnancy a woman’s body will not return to a pre-pregnancy state regardless of how much she may exercise. This is because the rectus muscles become positioned more laterally during the pregnancy and do not return to their normal position. This results in a protrusion of the abdomen from the pressure of the internal organs that the muscles are no longer in position to completley support.
As you can see, this was the case for this patient. After consulting with board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Francesco Campanile, he recommended a mini-tummy tuck. Because, she did not need a significant amount of skin or tissue excised, it made her a perfect candidate. During a mini-tummy tuck, the rectus muscles are surgically moved back into their pre-pregnancy state, and a minimal amount of skin underneath the belly button is excised. As you can see, the result is a much tighter and sculpted abdomen with the abdominal bulge being completely eliminated.
This patient is shown here approximately 2 months after her mini-tummy tuck with Denver board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Francesco Campanile. She is very happy with her results and feels confident in the way her abdomen looks.
